“Top of Shanghai” officially opened to the public
Shanghai Tower officially opened the “Top of Shanghai” observatory deck on the 118th floor to the public on April 26, after one year of trial operation, and invited the media and representatives from all walks of life to the opening ceremony. Locals and visitors can now take an aerial view of Shanghai from the loftiest spot at 501 Yincheng Road M. in Lujiazui area, Pudong.
Shanghai Tourism Administration Deputy Director Cheng Meihong, Pudong Vice Mayor Chen Xi, representatives of government organizations and travel agencies, and Shanghai Tower contractors and suppliers participated in the opening ceremony.
On the 118th floor and 546 meters above the ground, “Top of Shanghai” is triangular in shape and over 1,000 square meters in size. It is shielded by a glass curtain wall with a panoramic view of Shanghai. It gives people a castle-in-the-sky feeling and offers a new height for sightseeing after Oriental Pearl Tower, Jinmao Tower, and Shanghai World Financial Center.
Tourists can buy “Top of Shanghai” tickets in the ground lobby close to the intersection of Yincheng Road M. and Huayuan Shiqiao Road, then go to a showroom at Level B1 to see a multimedia presentation and a glass model of Shanghai Tower, and learn the secrets of the skyscraper and its design concept.
After that, they take an escalator to Level B2 and ride the fastest elevator in the world to the 543-meter-high observatory deck in just 55 seconds.
“Top of Shanghai” offers an unobstructed view of Shanghai’s skyline. People can see Suzhou Creek and Huangpu River joining the Yangtze River before emptying into the East China Sea, the city’s sprawling concrete jungle under shifting clouds, and touch-screen displays that point at the direction of other world-famous cities beyond the horizon. There is a post office and a wish tree on this floor. Visitors can send out postcards and make a wish under the tree. Before leaving, they may want to buy some souvenirs in the gift shop at Level B2 as reminders of their Shanghai Tower visits.
“Top of Shanghai” is an unforgettable experience for visitors. Tickets can be purchased on the spot, online or from tour agencies. For more information, please dial “Top of Shanghai” service hotline (021) 2065-6999.
